William D. Heath – Obituary and Assessment Call

William D. HeathCarl P. Covert, Sr., 77, of Cedar Creek passed away on August 2, 2011 after a lengthy bout with pneumonia following open heart surgery last December. He was born January 11, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Carl Lucas and Margret Covert. Carl and his wife Vivian were married for almost 54 years. Carl is survived by his wife Vivian of Cedar Creek, son Price Covert of Cedar Creek, Texas, son Phillip Covert of Austin, Texas, son Payton Covert and wife Kris and grandson William Payton Covert of Paris, Texas, one brother, a sister-in-law and two nephews.

William was born March 25, 1961 in El Paso, Texas, the son of Gary Walter and DeLois Ann (Magness) Heath. He graduated from Gunter High School in 1979 then attended Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets. He received his degree in Agricultural Economics from Tarleton State University in 1986. In August 1982 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a reservist until 1988. In July 1988 he was accepted into the Game Warden Academy and was commissioned as a State of Texas Game Warden on December 22, 1988.

On November 25, 1989, he married Jan Lasseigne in Thibodaux, Louisiana and they settled in Kountze,Texas, his first Game Warden duty station. His primary duty stations during his 23 year career included Hardin, Edwards, Denton and Coleman Counties. Due to illness, he retired from the State of Texas in November 2011.

William is survived by his wife Jan Lasseigne Heath; two children, Nicole Lynne and Gary Alan; two sisters, Kathleen Lumpkin and husband Bradley of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Mary Ann Justus of Burnet, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his mother, DeLois Magness Heath and one brother, Gary Wayne Heath.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Mutual Association (TPWD Mutual Association) regrets to inform you of the death of another of our members, William Dee Heath.

William became a member of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Mutual Association on September 1, 1992. He retained his membership up until his death on July 3, 2012.

A check in the amount of $5,033 will be delivered to Mrs. William Heath prior to the funeral.

An assessment in the amount of $16.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for two members in case of death. Please make this payment by August 10, 2012.
