Action
Land Acquisition - Houston County
Mission Tejas State Park
March 26, 2009

I. Executive Summary: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is in negotiations for the acquisition of a 0.26 acre tract as an addition to Mission Tejas State Park.

II. Discussion: TPWD staff is currently in negotiations with a willing private seller for a 0.26 acre tract of land (tract) as an addition to Mission Tejas State Park (Park). The tract is adjacent to the Park being located just southwest of the entrance and having 234 feet of State Highway 21 frontage. Acquisition of the property would preserve the aesthetic qualities of the park entrance.

III. Recommendation: The staff recommends the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to acquire a 0.26 acre tract of land as an addition to Mission Tejas State Park."
