25.30 Acres from The Valley Land Fund, Inc. as an Addition to Arroyo Colorado Wildlife Management Area

I. Executive Summary: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has been offered a 25.30-acre inholding at the Arroyo Colorado Wildlife Management Area (ACWMA).

II. Discussion: The Valley Land Fund (VLF) has acquired a 25.30-acre tract of land in Cameron County representing an inholding at the ACWMA. The VLF purchase and subsequent sale to TPWD will solve an in-holding and probable housing development issue, additionally the property lies in an extremely valuable habitat corridor along the Arroyo Colorado, is adjacent to rare and excellent quality native habitat on the Arroyo Colorado WMA.

III. Recommendation: The staff recommends the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:

"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to acquire a 25.30-acre inholding in Cameron County as an addition to the Arroyo Colorado WMA."
