Arts in the Parks: Texas Owls

Learn something new about the owls you can find in Texas, and then paint your own owls to decorate your bedroom or garden! After a special presentation, we will show you how to paint a rock to suddenly resemble an owl! The rocks will look great as indoor/outdoor décor for you or a friend. Paints and paint brushes included. Meet at campsite 35, next to the Park Host site.

Things to Know

  • All participants must have a valid park entry permit
  • Preregistration is strongly encouraged
  • Participants must bring their own rocks from outside the park! Help us Leave No Trace and do not collect items (including rocks) from inside this or any state park!
  • You will need two round rocks, roughly 4x4 inches each
  • All children must be accompanied by a guardian
  • We will be using acrylic paint, so wear an old shirt if you are worried about stains


    What to Expect

    • There will be a short presentation about owls, prior to painting 
    • Workshop will be outside—you may want to bring bug spray or water
