Join us on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Goose Island State Park day use area (by the Recreation Hall) for the basics of geocaching. This program will go over what geocaching is, types of caches, cache safety, cache contents, and more!
After Geocaching 101, participants will have a chance to try out their new skills and look for hidden caches set up for this event. Rather than having tradable items, these caches will be part of a series used to assemble a craft. Bring your own GPS unit or borrow one for the geocaching portion.
When: 2:30 p.m.
Where: The Day Use Area, look for a park vehicle parked near the picnic shelters.
Useful things to bring: Water, bug spray, and a GPS unit if you have one.

Audience: This event is appropriate for all ages and designed to show you the basics of caching. The caches used for this will be simple and relatively easy to locate. (If bringing a large group, please contact the park in advance to ensure adequate supplies. We may be able to set up a Geocaching 101 for organized groups with advance notice.)
