Zumba is a fitness program that involves elements of dance and aerobic activity. Zumba’s choreography blends hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts with body resistance strength training exercises such as squats and lunges. Zumba addresses both the strength & conditioning and cardiorespiratory elements of physical fitness. Zumba provides an excellent workout, and it is fun to do. Meet at the Towash Day-Use Area.
Licensed Zumba Instructor Candice Barsh will lead the program. Ms. Barsh teaches fitness-related programs in both Whitney and Aquilla. Ms. Barsh also teaches Zumba Fitness at Hill College.
This program is part of a series called Saturday Morning Wellness on the Rocks.
The program is free for any participant who has a valid entrance permit for the day. Entrance permits are available from Park Headquarters for $5.00 per person for everyone 13 or older. Children 12 or under are free. Entrance fees are also covered by a valid Texas State Parks Pass.
Bring drinking water and a towel. Wear loose comfortable clothing that allow a full range of motion. Zumba is excellent for families with children.
