Golden Alga Family Tree
This "tree" provides examples of Golden Alga (Prymnesium parvum) and other phyla in the Kingdom Protista of one-celled plants and animals. [Note that many lower life forms can be difficult to classify into related groups. As a result, some authorities have presented slightly different organization schemes for these organisms. Additionally, genetic research on protists and other organisms is ongoing. As this research yields more understanding on how biological organisms may be related, the classifications and names are rapidly updated. This is why organisms may be called different names by different scientific groups.]

Organization above is diagrammatic and may not reflect evolutionary associations, which are frequently updated and revised.
