Caption/Information:

Pedal Mettle — A ¼-inch rain during the night made for packed trails and cooler temperatures as cloudy morning skies gave way to a sunny afternoon on Friday for the second day of Dirt Fest 2012, a series of guided mountain bike rides on the challenging desert mountain trails inside Big Bend Ranch State Park near Lajitas, TX. Dozens more riders showed up today for a number of different bike routes, including those that finished the second leg of the overnight, 54-mile Epic Ride. Attached are photos depicting riders during both the morning’s overcast conditions, and the afternoon’s clear skies, set against the backdrop of the park’s unique landscapes. In addition, because of recent rainfall, wildflowers are also appearing in the park, including an early season Bluebonnet. Numerous additional rides are expected for Saturday’s Dirt Fest 2012 finale.
