Public Invited To Address TPW Commission on Aug. 25
AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission will hold its annual public hearing Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. in the Commission Hearing Room here at the Austin headquarters office at 4200 Smith School Road.
The public is invited to speak on any issues related to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The TPW commission is a nine-member board appointed by the governor to oversee the department.
During the previous year, TPWD has been involved in a number of significant issues affecting hunters, anglers and park users, including: license fee increases as a result of the new freshwater fishing stamp and plans for a new fish hatchery in East Texas, cormorant depredation permits, nuisance alligator problems, riverbed vehicle access prohibition, white-tailed deer management and Chronic Wasting Disease, golden alga impacts, the new state parks pass, grass carp stocking, the World Birding Center and a ban on wildlife feeding in state parks, to name a few.
Anyone wishing to comment on the above topics or any other related issue is encouraged to attend the public hearing.
Anyone can also see past and upcoming commission agendas and comment on proposed department regulations, such as the currently proposed regulations for late season migratory game birds, on the TPWD Web site Public Comment page (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/involved/pubhear).
