Gov. Perry Names Mark Bivins to Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission

AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry today named Mark Bivins of Amarillo to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2011. The commission oversees the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Bivins is a rancher and partner of Corsino Cattle Company. He is director of the Texas Wildlife Association, former trustee of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, and chairman of the Lone Star Legacy Campaign with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation. Bivins is a member of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and the University of Texas Chancellors Council. He also is a board trustee of the St. Andrew’s Day School, second vice chair of the Amarillo Area Foundation and past chairman of the McDonald Observatory Board of Visitors. Bivins is a past board member of the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, past chairman of the Harrington Regional Medical Center and past president of the Don Harrington Discovery Center. He is a member of the University of Texas Ex-Student Association and former member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame.

Bivins is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
