Texas State Parks Provide Refuge in the Storm

As in past natural disasters, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is opening the gates of Texas state parks to evacuees from Hurricane Dolly. Campsites and screen shelters will be offered free to those who need a temporary place to stay.

The following South Texas parks are open and accepting evacuees:

  • Falcon State Park
  • Lake Casa Blanca State Park
  • Lake Corpus Christi State Park
  • Goliad State Park
  • Goose Island State Park
  • Choke Canyon State Park

All other state parks not affected by storm will also accept evacuees. For more information, call 512-389-8900.

The following parks are closed due to flooding or other storm-related issues:

  • Mustang Island State Park
  • Resaca de la Palma State Park
  • Llano Grande State Park
  • Bentsen State Park
