South Llano River State Park

Located on the river that’s been called one of the most pristine bodies of water in the state, this park is known for water and wildlife. Kayaking on the river or hiking through the wooded hills, you may see deer, birds and even a wild turkey.

Things to Do

Activities include camping, picnicking, canoeing, tubing, swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching and nature study.

The Turkey Roost area of the park offers approximately 25 miles of hiking/biking trails and five primitive (hike-in) campsites. From October 1 - March 31 the area is only open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the remainder of the year it is open all day.

Fisher Museum and Library.

Gate Hours

Open 7 days a week year-round.
The gate is closed only during flooding conditions or wildlife management activities.
